Pole-Guard Fire Retardant Coating combines the elastic properties of a modified Neoprene/Asphalt with the Fire resistance, weatherproofing and waterproofing qualities of a highly refined emulsified asphalt but breathable. Pole-Guard has remarkable strength, self-healing properties and adhesion as well.

WHAT OUR PRODUCT DOES - WHY IT WORKS
- Utility poles are vulnerable to damage and destruction from brush and forest fires. Neoprene-Asphalt Polymer compounds (Pole-Guard) Coated wooden utility poles are much more fire resistant and therefore less likely to need to be replaced subsequent to a forest or brush fire. This added resilience to the electrical grid should enable faster recovery times and economy.
- Pole-Guard is a Neoprene Asphalt based Polymer similar to some roofing materials that (when dried and cured) resists burning too over 1200° F. Fire degrades it slowly, while still protecting the substrate and it self-extinguishes when external temperatures subside. It also enables vapor to transpire reducing wood rot. Our product is UV resistant and therefore long lived once applied. When it fire degrades the gases produced are non-toxic.
- It can be applied by brush, roller our spray. Curing (Drying/hardening) time is one day (but not easily nontransferable in a few minutes).
- Pole-Guard is is now available in brown as well as the original black
- Our Product is highly elastic and when stretched rapidly assumes its original shape (dimensional memory). It has self-healing properties, when pierced, leaving only tiny holes from gaffing wounds (from linemen’s safety climbing boot spurs) preserving its fire-retardant properties.
OUR PATENTED TECHNOLOGY
Pole-Guard coats wooden utility poles with neoprene-asphalt polymer compounds as a fire retardant that protect against combustion up to 1100° F, then degrades slowly and self-extinguishes when external heat drops retaining oxygen barrier integrity as long as it continues to resist full degradation, preventing/delaying combustion of the wooden pole. This extends the life of utility poles in the field.
